12 DAYS OF CREATIVE CHEER
Throughout December, I took part in a challenge on Instagram called “12 Days Of Creative Cheer” to celebrate the wonder of the festive season and to create Christmassy joy on social media. The challenge was run by a collective of creatives and illustrators: Isabella Boss Wade, The Brit Drot Shop, Chanell Kristen, Laura Supnik and Shelby Warwood.
For each prompt I put together a furniture moodboard concept befitting of each theme. I had so much fun making them and getting into the Christmas spirit whilst constructing each one; as you will see they become more and more festive as December flies by!
The images below were made by Isabella Boss Wade and show the cover image for the challenge and the prompts list:

So without further ado, here were my interior design-based responses to each creative prompt:
Living room moodboard for prompt number one: “Gingham + Fruit” (December 2nd 2024).
The above fruity scheme uses Lust Home’s “Picnic In The Park in Lemon Bonbon” gingham wallpaper, Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2025 “True Joy” and an amazing teal coloured pineapple sofa by Warner House 1870.
Living room moodboard for prompt number two: “Cookie Chaos” (4th December).
A festive cookies and cream themed living room moodboard. The starting point was the Little Greene Paint Company’s “Muscavado” paint shade from their Sweet Treats collection and Lust Home’s “Hypnotize in Poison Apple and Gluten Free” wallpaper. I then added Loaf Home’s “Sugar Bum” sofa in their “Gingernut” fabric (note all the sweet food themed names!) paired with gingerbread and biscuit accessories.
Grand reception room moodboard for prompt number three: “Wonderful Windows” (6th December).
For the scheme above I used a photo I took while I was in London over the festive period of one of Fortnum and Mason’s Christmas window displays as the starting point. I adapted it to form a luxury jewel box-style residential interior; something you would see perhaps in a grand period property. I have also used a photo of Fortnum and Mason’s Christmas trees which were beautifully and vibrantly decorated inside the shop, as well as Cole and Son’s luxurious “Carmen in Metallic Gold on Sand” wallpaper.
Living room moodboard for prompt number four: “Bright Baubles” (9th December).
“Bright Baubles” is a living room interior inspired by the “Cocktails and Candy Canes” space at 2024’s Ideal Home Christmas Show at Kensington Olympia; I had lots of fun making this one, and I think it might be my favourite! The starting point was Lust Home’s stunning “Starstruck in Powder Puff, Poison Apple and Mint Milkshake” wallpaper paired with their “Signature Stripe in Candy Floss and Poison Apple” wallpaper. I have also included an amazing teal fireplace, a comfy Loaf Home sofa, plenty of bright and cosy cushions and loads of vibrant paper bauble decorations.
Cocktail bar moodboard for prompt number five: “Holiday Spirits” (11th December)
This cocktail bar interior is my most layered furniture moodboard so far, and I feel that it’s a scheme perfect both for celebrating Christmas and for seeing in the new year! The starting point was Cole and Son’s “Fornasetti Cocktails in Multi” wallpaper, paired with Graham and Brown’s “Tranquil Gold” wallpaper.
Living room furniture moodboard for prompt number six: “Jolly Holiday Postcard” (13th December).
Lust Home’s “Send Me A Postcard” wallpaper was the starting point for the above living room scheme, paired with their “I’m Blushing” paint. I installed a bobbin-framed wall art piece on the right hand corner of the hot pink wall which has Christmas-themed stamps on it, to replicate the format of a postcard. I just love pink and green as a colour combination, so I have added a green Habitat side table and green festive home accessories, plus a stunning basketweave rug by Harlequin, to the blush pink Loaf Home sofa and vibrant Dunelm pendant light. My favourite detail is the multicoloured fairy lights at the top!
Dining table place setting moodboard for prompt number seven: “Festive Feast” (16th December).
I tried something a bit different for this moodboard and made one which zooms in to a particular vignette of a room rather than depicting the whole space. For “Festive Feast” I have put together a yuletide place setting at a Christmas dinner table, using real products as usual. I love the Habitat 60th anniversary tablecloth and the Eleanor Bowmer plates and coasters in this scheme.
Bedroom furniture moodboard for prompt number eight: “Paws + Claus (18th December).
I chose leopard paws as my starting point for the bedroom moodboard above, more specifically Lust Home’s “Cool Like You in Candy Pink, Postbox Red and Mint” wallpaper. Leopard print is my favourite colour, so choosing and designing this scheme was right up my street! I have also used Lust Home’s “Elderflower” paint shade in combination with Loaf Home’s “Snoozemuffin in Rocking Horse” bed in red velvet upholstery as well as a red and green fireplace to dictate the colour scheme. I have also incorporated some traditional leopard print colour as a neutral and a touch of golden sophistication. My aim for this moodboard was to create an eclectic festive scheme combining jungle-themed pieces with elements of traditional Santa Claus iconography in order to meet the brief.
Living room furniture moodboard for prompt number nine: “Gingerbread House Party” (20th December).
The “Cookie Chaos” living room has hosted a house party! As Christmas approached (I made this moodboard on the 20th December) I felt that these moodboards were becoming more and more festive in theme.
Living room furniture moodboard for prompt number ten: “Stocking Surprise” (23rd December).
The interior design furniture moodboard above focuses on a festive fireplace in a living room. The starting point was Lust Home’s (I am not sponsored by them in any way, I just love their products!) glitzy deco-themed “Leonardo in Midnight Blue” wallpaper paired with their bold “Blue Moon” paint. The stars of the show are the stockings by Jonathan Adler, Oliver Bonas and the National Portrait Gallery shop.
Living room furniture moodboard for prompt number eleven: “Unwrapping Joy” (25th December).
A bright and vibrant festive living room which celebrates the joy of colour for the “Unwrapping Joy” prompt. The starting point was Valspar Paint’s gorgeous “Emerald Enchantment” shade paired with a fabulous fuchsia sofa from DFS to create a fun maximalist scheme.
Hallway furniture moodboard for prompt number twelve: “New Year Wishes” (27th December).
Above is my creative response to the final prompt of the “12 Days Of Creative Cheer” Instagram challenge, which was to share part of my interior design wishes for 2025. I would love to complete the hallway renovation in our own house! The space has come a long way thanks to my other half Charlie removing four layers of anaglypta wallpaper, filling in the cracks and holes in the walls and preparing and priming the surfaces. The walls are now this amazing shade of yellow (“Bonjour” by Valspar Paint), which was colour matched with one of our favourite Basquiat paintings (of which we have a large replica). I have improvised with a few of the furniture selections here, but how striking would a cobalt blue accent chair look in the hallway against the vibrant yellow walls?!
Finally, I would like to thank you for reading this post to the end, and the only thing left is to ask you which of these twelve moodboards is your favourite? I would love it if you could leave me a comment with your vote!
