Collage:
Collage is an important part of my creative practice and is one of my favourite pastimes. My artistic voice thrives on hands-on processes, and creating physical collages appeals to this sensibility. I believe that designing an interior space is much like putting together a collage, where endless possibilities of layers of colour, pattern and texture are built on a blank room-shaped canvas in order to create a dynamic three-dimensional work of art.
In order to keep my collage practice alive, I attend workshops approximately once a month (these sessions are also ideal for networking and socialising with likeminded people). This page is a comprehensive portfolio of my best work.
My very own “Dopamine Menu” as designed in my Small Joys Journal. This is a curated list of fun personal activities which give me a healthy and fulfilling dopamine boost throughout the day.
Double page spread in my new Small Joys Journal celebrating the “Electric Dreams” exhibition at the Tate Modern gallery in London, featuring YesColours’ dazzling shade of “Electric Blue”.

Set of four collages inspired by the Michael Craig-Martin exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in December 2024. I loved the mid-century modern pieces and the works capturing iconic items of furniture, for example the Barcelona Chair.
Autumn-based collage in my sketchbook based on cosy kitchens and traditional pantries. “Creativity” and “relaxation” are the perfect words to sum up the process of making a collage and indulging in artful practice when you need a break from work or life admin!
A furniture moodboard concept as a handmade collage, made with promotional materials from brands who exhibited at the Decorex International 2024 trade show. I loved how much intricate pattern was on display at the show. This collage is a brilliant record of the day, which was jam-packed with inspiration.
Sketchbook spread made under the theme of “celebration” using Gelli prints and washi tape. This collage was made to celebrate a year of artist Maja Jones’ “Cocktails and Collage” workshops at the Port Hotel in Eastbourne.

Some fun workshop warm up collages: success blossoms, summer fun, mid-year motivational refresh and a tropical paradise island.
Two fun booklets made for collage workshops run by artists Coco Lom and Common Exception.
Coco Lom and Common Exception’s “Walk+Awe” workshop: these pages test out mark-making.
Awe walks encourage you to take note of all the small details, colour, pattern and shapes in architecture. This is a mixture of mark-making and simple collage.
This double page collage spread focuses on specific elements of buildings and other shapes using a limited colour palette.
Having fun with colour, pattern and the shapes and building forms on the Greenwich Peninsula.
Spotting detailed patterns in buildings and representing them in complementary colours.
One of the workshop prompts was “opposites”, so here I have used complementary colours and a series of opposing shapes.
Experiments with building detail shapes, plus thermal print-outs of my favourite architectural finds.
Using a viewfinder to hone in on a particular point of interest, plus playing with pattern and colour.

Some details from a striking orange and green building I saw, plus some fun wiggles from a promotional flag.
Fun booklet from artists Coco Lom and Common Exception’s “Music+Awe” collage workshop.
This workshop encouraged you to consider the small details and nuances in some music tracks.
The background pattern shows my immediate response to the music using coloured pens.
The zig-zag shapes are an intense abstract microscopic view into the rhythm of the music.
Repeat patterns drawn onto the washi tape visualise some of the beats heard in the music tracks.
Visualising the beats and rhythms of the music through movement, colour, pattern and shapes.
It was interesting to see how a sound can be translated into playful shapes, colour and patterns.
Middle spread by Coco Lom and Common Exception, embellished with vibrant washi tapes.
Mark-making to translate an abstract sound into a monochrome vision, plus a beat in orange.
Quick softer sounds can create an intense and playful pattern of curved and wavy lines.
The abstract shapes visualised while listening to drum and bass and dubstep music… fun in pink!
Repeat wavy lines to reflect more soothing music tracks. Colours are unconsciously chosen.
Repeat beats in the form of blue squares superimposed on offcuts of immediate music reaction doodles and sketches.
Fun end pages, plus a thank you note from Rosie of Coco Lom and Louisa of Common Exception.
