Assignment One:
Assignment One, which I earned a Merit for, was very much an introduction into the world of interior design, and involved researching both historical and contemporary examples of a variety of interior designers’ work and gaining an understanding on how existing designers communicate.
I found both a historical and contemporary example for each communication technique and compared them (based on how visual communication has developed over time) on the project sheets below:

Cover page using Rhidesign Interiors’ original branding and logo. The porcelain dog design represents my favourite ornament and love of dogs.
Comparing a modern digitally produced architect’s floorplan by Michael Russum with a hand drawn one (as seen at Standen House) by Philip Webb.
Comparing Antoni Gaudi’s hand drawn elevation for Barcelona’s Casa Vicens with Sir Richard Rogers’ CAD-based drawing for Las Arenas de Barcelona.
Analysing Peter Chamberlain’s initial drawing for the Barbican Estate against Renzo Piano’s original sketch for The Shard; both examples here are London-based.
Comparing New York-based hand rendered perspective drawings with digital ones; Elsie de Wolfe’s Colony Club with Stephen Alesch’s Boom Boom Room.
Selection of contemporary and historical comparisons complied as a collage, as well as a critical analysis of Sir Richard Rogers’ Las Arenas de Barcelona.
